Lenne – Estonian children’s clothing brand since 1991

Lenne children’s clothing is designed for the Nordic climate and children’s active outdoor life. Lenne is an Estonian children’s clothing brand and manufacturer that has been developing children’s outerwear, winter clothes, and other practical garments since 1991, taking into account cold, wind, snow, rain, and children’s active movement.

Over more than three decades, the small family business has grown into a children’s clothing manufacturer whose range includes children’s winter overalls, jackets, trousers, spring-autumn wear, hats, gloves, merino wool clothing, and other products designed for everyday outdoor use.

For us, good children’s clothing means more than just beautiful design. A garment must be comfortable for the child, weather-appropriate, practical, and durable.

More than 30 years of experience in children’s clothing

The Lenne story began in the early 1990s, a time when high-quality materials and production opportunities were difficult to find in Estonia. Many solutions had to be developed in-house, and the first children’s clothes were made from fabric remnants of the textile industry. Quite quickly, the company’s main focus became the production of children’s clothing.

The experience accumulated over decades helps us understand what qualities children’s clothes need in real life – at kindergarten, on the way to school, at the playground, in the forest, on the sledding hill, and during long winter outings.

Lenne garments have been worn for several generations. Many of today’s parents who choose Lenne for their children wore Lenne clothes themselves as children.

Nordic weather. The Estonian answer.

The Estonian and Nordic climate places high demands on children’s clothing. One day there may be dry freezing temperatures, the next wet snow, strong wind, or rain. Therefore, when developing Lenne outerwear, we base it on the conditions in which children actually use them.

When choosing materials, cuts, and details, we take into account:

  • cold, wind, snow, and wet weather;
  • the child’s active movement and freedom of movement;
  • extended time spent outdoors;
  • breathability and weatherproofing of materials;
  • durability and easy care of garments;
  • the child’s safety and visibility in the dark.

In product development, we also pay attention to small details – strong zippers, soft materials against the child’s skin, reflective details, safe hoods, and the durability of the garments.

The goal is to manufacture children’s clothes that, with proper use and care, could serve more than one child.

Technical materials for the Nordic climate

Lenne children’s clothing is made from materials with different technical properties according to the weather and use for which the specific product is intended. For outerwear, we pay attention to water resistance, breathability, wind resistance, warmth level, water-repellent treatment, and seam solutions.

For our products, we highlight features such as water resistance, breathability, wind resistance, warmth level, water-repellent treatment, and taped seams. This allows parents to choose the right garment not only by appearance but also by its actual intended use.

For example, products with Lenne ActiveUltra material have 20,000 mm water resistance and 20,000 g/m²/24 h breathability. The selection includes winter clothes with different warmth levels, including models designed for very cold weather.

Design and production are close to us

Lenne production takes place in Tallinn, Estonia, and elsewhere in Europe. We are closely involved in the production process and monitor its various stages from design to sewing technology solutions.

Experienced seamstresses working in Estonia are not only involved in making the garments but also participate in finding more complex technical solutions. Seasonally, up to 60 people can be involved in Lenne’s production.

Keeping production close allows us to monitor product quality and react quickly to practical questions that arise during product development.

Customer experience helps us develop products

The Lenne online store is not just a sales channel for us. It gives us a direct overview of which models, sizes, and colors are in demand and which products customers provide the most feedback on.

Sales data is also used in planning future collections. If a specific size or color of a model sells out quickly, it provides valuable information to product development about customers’ actual needs.

Customer letters, calls, and feedback also reach our team and help improve existing and future products.

This direct link between the customer, the online store, and product development is one of Lenne’s significant advantages as a manufacturer.

Durability is part of good design

Children’s clothes take a lot of strain every day. They are played in at kindergarten, run in outdoors, sat in the snow, fallen in, and stood back up in.

Therefore, durability is a conscious choice in Lenne’s product development. With materials, zippers, seams, and other details, we take into account that the garment should withstand children’s daily active use for as long as possible.

A longer service life also means that the use of a well-maintained garment does not have to be limited to just one child or one season.

We use materials as efficiently as possible

In production, we pay attention to the efficient use of materials. We try to use the fabric as fully as possible to reduce fabric waste generated during the production process.

Keeping production in Estonia and Europe also allows us to keep a large part of the production process close to us and maintain a close connection between design, product development, and manufacturing.
